Talking Walks in the North Cotswolds

Join a Talking Walk and you will discover there is more to walking ....

At last, a chance to understand why our landscape looks the way it does. Talking Walks is dedicated to introducing walkers to the hidden beauty of our countryside through a programme of thematic walks (we have over 30 different walks), each one designed to enlighten and delight. You will be able to see, smell, feel and hear (and in some cases touch) flora, fauna, history and landscape. Typical topics include: Cotswold Churches, Ancient Woodland, the Country House, Routes & Tracks, the Cotswold Medieval Wool Trade and Pilgrims.

Set in the beautiful Cotswolds, the walks are generally between 6 and 8 miles long and last about 6 hours. They are planned by the walk leaders to illustrate the themes at their best. There are frequent stops to point out and explain relevant features and to discuss their origins or ponder over their life cycle. To help you get the most out of the day we produce booklets written especially for each walk. Each booklet contains illustrations and maps as well as an introduction to the topic and a commentary on the walk route.

To find out what's coming up go to the Programme page. Or, for groups of 2 or more, we can run any of the walks listed, or tailor-make a walk to match your interests, on a date to suit your group. To find out more about this option, please go to You Choose page.

If a full day walk feels too much, why not join a Midweek Meander. These are half day walks graded from easy to strenuous. Each walk lasts between 2 to 3 hours and covers distances from 3 to 6 miles. Walks are on Wednesday mornings, starting at 10.00 or 10.30 and repeated on Thursday, if there is sufficient demand. To find out the programme for the next few weeks go to the Meanders page.
